City Boy Style

One of the major trends which one should look out for is the ‘city boy’ look – men in lightweight knits and jackets, button down shirts and mid-length shorts, giving off a bit of a formal yet relaxed look this summer that can be ideally finished off with chinos and deck shoes.

Accessories are a must-have.Summer. Large rings can dress up denim or add drama to a cocktail dress. The popular color for bags this season is turquoise, but play up the “new” neutral color in suiting (grey) with splashes of color whether it be with your bag, shoes or scarves.

Wing-tip eyes have become a hot favourite on the ramp as well as off it. It's a look almost anyone can pull off. If you're wondering how to do it correctly, make up expert Kapil Bhalla gives you an easy tutorial on how to get the look right with the help of model Michelle Kynta.

Things to remember:
  • A pencil liner will not give you a sharp, defined cat eye. It also has wax emollients that will melt and smudge in a few hours. Certainly not apt if you have oily skin and want your liner to last for a few hours.
  • Liquid liner is ideal, while gel liners work best. The result depends on the brush that you use.
  • A fine brush helps in getting sleek lines and also gives you the ability to get more creative with the tip.
  • A thick brush will give you chubbier lines and a fatter cat eye.
  • Since the cat eye or wing-tip eye is quite a dramatic look, stick to neutral coloured eyeshadows. The adage "less is more" should be your mantra.
  • The cat eye liner is a very versatile look. While you can keep the rest of your face bare, it also gives you scope to go dressy with blush and lipcolour.
  • For the day, pair your cat eye liner with a lighter lip colour.
  • For the night, you have a plethora of choices. You can go vintage with a glossy or a matte red lip or pair it with the flavour of the season: coral or fuchsia lips.

Winslet shaved arms for Titanic

Actor Kate Winslet was forced to shave her arms to shoot key evening scenes for hit 1997 film Titanic because the moonlight kept striking her arm hair and ruining the shot.
Winslet was 20 years old when she stepped into the role of Rose opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in director James Cameron’s blockbuster hit.
The actress recalls her arm hair stood on end and caused complications for Cameron.
“The light was catching all the little hairs on my arm and Cameron said, ‘We’re going to have to shave your arm.’ So we stop filming and the make-up artist has a razor and some  shaving foam. It was hilarious.
